What’s in your Novel?

Whether we realize it or not, we’re all adding a page to our life’s story with each passing day. How we live, the way we love, and the decisions make, all drive our real-life stories forward. Pages soon turn into chapters, which in turn accounts for volumes of experiences and memories in our lives as time marches on.

It’s within this short time frame we’ve been given that we attempt to shape and mold our story, not only for ourselves as individuals, but for our families as well. For example, as parents, we do our best to lead and guide our children with the hope and prayers of sending them off into the world better equipped to meet life’s challenges. Not always an easy thing to do of course, but necessary.

All these things add to our story. And while life throws in its many twists and unexpected turns, hope remains. Hope after life changing events and tragedies. Hope when all seems lost. And God’s gentle reminder that he will never leave us and is always there to comfort.

Looking back at the days following the devastating news of having stage 4 cancer and an uncertain future, I recall thinking of the things that mattered most in life. Family, loved ones, and friends were the only things on my list. There was no “bucket” list of wanting to skydive or climb a mountain. But I did question why I hadn’t pursued a lifelong dream of being an author.

And so, my question for you today is, what dream have you set aside to fulfill another day? Is there a story you’d like tell in a way only you can tell it? It’s not too late. Maybe you’re thinking “what if no one wants to read it?” My response would be, “what if someone needs to hear it?” God given words are alive and promote positive change to the hearer.

I’m reminded of the scripture in Hebrews 12:1 that speaks of laying aside the weights that so easily beset us and running the race before us. These weights can be fear, regret, doubt. Though we’re unable to erase the regrets of yesterday’s page, tomorrow’s a new day. A new chapter. A new beginning. It’s when we begin to make decisions that align with the will of our maker God, that we’re able to write stories for a better tomorrow. Both for ourselves, and possibly others.

We’re now free to chart a new course to better horizons. The blank page awaits us, and God is on our side cheering us on. He has faith in you. The question is, will we have faith in him as well? And so, what will your next page and chapter read? Only you can decide. Now all that remains is for the journey to begin!

Happy writing and may God bless!
